The Southern California UNK Alumni Association has been going strong since its first annual meeting in 1974. The tradition established by the founders of the organization has seldom been matched within the alumni network. Each year, the association convenes with alumni and friends the first Saturday of February for a luncheon. Annually, they invite a member of the faculty, administration or a professor emeritus to be their honored guest and speaker at the luncheon. The group also plans several activities through the year, including gatherings at Danny K’s for Husker football watches.
The group has spearheaded a number of fundraising efforts that have made a positive impact on the UNK campus.
Their scholarship endowment totals more than $130,000, and other gifts to campus have exceeded $25,000.
