Of the 36,000 alumni for which the Alumni Association has addresses, around 25,000 live in Nebraska.   Historically, UNK has attracted a majority of its students from within the state of Nebraska, many from small towns, so it’s not surprising that many stay nearby.  Most of Nebraska’s larger cities have a high concentration of UNK alumni.  The Alumni Association is committed building a strong Loper Network within our home state.  Below is information on specific communities.

Kearney
With a population of over 30,000 residents, one in eight Kearney residents has at least one degree from UNK.  A viable alumni network in Kearney could be positioned to regularly interact with students on the campus, through career and academic mentoring and networking.  In addition, the creation of a Loper to Loper business network will make the value of membership in the Alumni Association even greater.

Opportunities for gathering alumni abound with campus so near, including athletic events, concerts, young alumni receptions and other alumni reunions.   Many activities are planned annually.

Omaha
Over 4,000 UNK graduates currently live in Omaha.  Annually, the Alumni Association plans a golf tournament and at least one other gathering for alumni.  Omaha is home to several alumni board members, many trustees and a wide range in ages of alumni.

This year’s Omaha golf event will take place on Monday, May 24th at Champion’s Run.
